The job of the dental assistant is to assist the dentist throughout the different dental procedures, to properly sterilize thee instruments, to prepare and display dental radiographs as well as to take dental impressions whenever and if needed.
Nowadays there are many institutions in Prague Oklahoma that offer dental assistant training and accreditation, such as trade schools or technical institutions where students will learn the basics of office practice and ethics, biology, chemistry and such. However, it must be said that besides the formal training, a truly skilled dental professional must also possess impeccable manual dexterity and must work well in a team.
All dental assistant training programs must be accredited for the CDAADA, and the only way for students to get their certification and to become professional CDAs is to sit for the exam administered by the Dental Assisting National Board.
Besides sterilizing all the dental equipment and taking impressions, Prague Oklahoma dental assistants also deal with a variety of other tasks from helping the dentist remove cavities to taking care off administrative tasks such as patient files or appointments – also, it is the duty of the dental assistant to give the patient all the necessary post operative instructions and information, to mix the different dental materials that are used during the treatment, to prepare the patient and explain him every step of the procedure as well as to keep track of the inventory in the long run.
Not only does the dental assistant deal with removing sutures and making temporary crowns whenever required, but he also deals with various administrative tasks like updating the treatment records, sending bills and receiving payments, ordering materials and supplies and what not.
While in certain states a CDA can make, on average, around $33,000 a year, in other states such as California it is not uncommon for a certified dental assistant to make up to $60,000 per year or even more.
