The job of the dental assistant is to assist the dentist throughout the different dental procedures, to properly sterilize thee instruments, to prepare and display dental radiographs as well as to take dental impressions whenever and if needed.
All dental assistants in Orion Arkansas need to be licensed in order to work in the United States – in spite of the fact that most of them get their skills on the job, they do need to enroll in dental training programs in various technical institutes, universities or trade schools where they will be taught the basics of chemistry, office practices, biology and a variety of other subjects of utmost importance for their careers. In addition to formal skills, manual dexterity and good communication skills are of paramount importance.
All dental assistant training programs must be accredited for the CDAADA, and the only way for students to get their certification and to become professional CDAs is to sit for the exam administered by the Dental Assisting National Board.
The Orion AR dentist is the one that tells the assistant what to do, but the typical job requirements involve preparing the patient, thoroughly explaining them the dental procedure that he is about to go through, offering in-depth and detailed post operative care instructions and so on.
At the same time, the dental assistant may also need to make temporary crowns, expose dental x-ray films, remove excess material as well as send and receive payments, order supplies and different dental materials.
While in certain states a CDA can make, on average, around $33,000 a year, in other states such as California it is not uncommon for a certified dental assistant to make up to $60,000 per year or even more.
